Are you an expectant mama looking for extra emotional, physical, informational, and spiritual support during your pregnancy and at your birth? You’ve come to the right place!
What is a doula?
The word “doula” comes from Greek and means “a woman who serves.”
The word is used in the birth world today to describe a professional trained to assist a woman in birth—informationally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
Doulas do NOT perform any medical care, but that doesn’t make them any less important to a woman’s birth experience!
Who can benefit from having a doula?
ALL moms can benefit from having a doula! Whether this is your first baby or your tenth, whether you plan on a hospital birth or a home birth, whether you want an epidural or no pain medication, whether you have a planned c-section or want no interventions, ALL women can benefit from the services a doula provides.
Proven benefits of having a doula?
Less likely to: have pitocin, use of forceps, ask for pain medication, have a c-section.
More likely to: have a positive birth experience, have a shorter labor, have a spontaneous vaginal birth, have success with breastfeeding.
